So the two new things I tried today are not good for me ... and that is just as well ... because I did not enjoy them. I tried some microwave popcorn we bought from the Boy Scouts (well, because two of my sons are boy scouts) ... and although I don't mind putting money into that fundraiser, I could definitely live without the popcorn. It tasted kinda funny to me. Probably because I am just use to regular old fashioned popcorn from the stove.
Also - my husband made some sort of chocolate pudding. It was a spontaneous thing, and he wasn't really planning on it - but I think he was having a major chocolate craving and decided to whip some up. I tasted some from his dish ... and YUK. I did not like it at all. Maybe I need to make that Shakeology Pudding I heard about.
And since I did not bother to get any pictures of this popcorn or pudding, I'll just leave you with a cute picture of my youngest kid. He was all bundled up to go look at Christmas lights. Well, bundled up for Houston.
I Hope you had a good weekend. Tomorrow will definitely be a healthier day for Deb, that is for sure. I have a date at the gym with my husband (He is off work) .. so woo hoo!

Day 219 - An Adventure
So this was a Saturday for adventure, where we spent 6 hours in the car to enjoy a Polar Express Santa Train ride with our boys. We drove three hours to Palestine, TX - - enjoyed the experience there and rode the train - - and then drove 3 hours back home. Very long day, with not a lot of opportunities for new things.
However - I did manage to bite some of my son's funnel cake with powdered sugar. That is total junk food, I know - but I have always been very afraid of powdered sugar. Sounds stupid, I am sure - but seriously - I would send pancakes back in a heartbeat if they ever came out with powdered sugar on them. So my son asked me to take a bite of his funnel cake - including the powdered sugar - and I did. Guess what, I did not die. Amazing, I know. Bad part is - - I kinda liked it. No, that is not something I need to like - but one bite won't kill me.
I also tried some home-made lemonade with a big fat lemon in it. I don't think I have ever had that before. It was a little tart - but not too bad.
All in all - an awesome day.

Day 199 - Pumpkin Pie Yogurt
Well, they say it is a limited edition flavor - - but man I wish it would be around all year. Can we say YUMMY? Oh yes we can. Yummy and heavenly ... can you tell I enjoyed it? Yes, I tried it - Yes, I loved it. Woo Hoo.
Other than that - I also had a bite of some kind of cake called Boston Cream Pie Cake. I have never had Boston Cream Pie in my life, except maybe a yogurt flavored that once I think, can't even remember now. The cake was okay - but I know better than to have beyond a bite.
Hope you had a good day so far.

Day 172 - Parm. Crusted Chicken
So, my husband tried out a new recipe and made it for the family tonight, it is called Parm. Crusted Chicken. I only took a small bite off my son's plate. I did not care for it. I just ate my plain chicken instead. BUT THEN - I got so sick and threw up. At first I thought maybe it went down wrong or something - but then was feeling bad all evening. So who knows.
I also tried a Pillsbury Brownie refrigerated thing we got for free. It was a caramel flavor, a very small square. I must say it was heavenly, but am wise enough not to over-indulge in such things.

Day 166 - Birthday Cake
Well, yes, I have had birthday cake in my lifetime, but I truly have never had this kind of cake before. It is called Italian Cream Cake and it even has coconut in the icing. I usually detest coconut and avoid it at all costs. I do not eat anything, EVER, that has coconut in it. However; today is my precious daughter's birthday (15 yrs old) - and this is the cake she wanted, and she wanted/insisted that I have a bite. SO I put aside my aversion to coconut and decided to give a taste.
Oh my gosh - I loved it. Seriously - heaven on a fork. Where in the world has this cake been all my life? I had no idea cake could be so good. I normally do not even care about cake. However; I did use some self control and only had a little bit. It was enough though - to know for sure - I am in love.
SO, I cannot believe my one and only baby girl is 15 years old. Time flies. Hope you all had a happy Monday.

So this is the lovely cake !
AND... This is me and the lovely girl!
And ... this is when my baby girl was just 4 years old!
and in case you're wondering why I'm not showing a baby picture, she was four years old when we 'GOT' her... yep, she was a foster daughter we adopted. She was 4 years old when she came into our lives, and we are so glad she did. Doctors told me I'd probably not have children. THAT is now hilarious, because I have since given birth to 3 sons! But nonetheless, we are so glad the Good Lord saw fit to put her into our lives and our family. She has truly been an awesome blessing beyond imagination.
